We often hear how people have an emotional and passionate relationship with their food. And, they should. Food brings us together with our families and our friends, it evokes fond memories of flavors and aromas and helps us honor our cultures and remember our heritage.
However, it is important to remember that the people who are growing and nurturing these crops are also passionate, proud and emotional about the food they grow.
Farming is hard work, it can be frustrating and sometimes devastating, it is unpredictable and it is constantly being critiqued by others. But it is also motivating. Seeing the first bloom on fruit trees, watching vineyards emerge from dormancy, seeing newly planted seedlings sprout.
